I joined 3DSPaint in June 2025 and posted two blogs:
1. “Free Speech Means All Speech” – I argued that the site should allow all opinions unless it’s actual violence or threats. I said filtering “offensive” content censors debate and treats users like kids.
2. “The Complete History of 3DSPaint.com” – A big post documenting the site’s history. I used AI to help gather and draft info, but edited it myself.
How People Reacted:
- Suspicion: Users thought I was an alt or troll. They pointed out my account was brand new and only had these two blogs.
- Moderators Responded Fast:
- Draconid_Jo said he partly agreed with me, but quoted the rules showing hate speech and harassment aren’t allowed.
- He unfeatured my blog so people wouldn’t think the site supports total free speech.
- He reminded me: just because you have free speech doesn’t mean you can say anything on a private site.
- No One Backed Me Up: No user publicly agreed with my blog. Some ignored it, others pushed back or mocked it.
- AI Accusations: On the history blog, people said it looked AI-written.
- They pointed out weird formatting and leftover symbols (like * * or &rdquo).
- Asparagus joked I didn’t write it myself.
- Amjam (staff) officially declined the blog, saying it seemed AI-written. That made it disappear from public view.
- I replied with “dang” and said I edited it myself after AI help – but it didn’t change anything.
- Outside the Blogs: Some users made jokes on walls and in comments. I didn’t see support, only sarcasm or criticism.
The End Result:
- My blogs were not welcomed.
- The first was unfeatured; the second was rejected.
- Moderators and users treated me like an outsider stirring up drama.
- No one stood up for me or my points.
- I didn’t stick around after that.
What I Learned:
3DSPaint has clear boundaries: free speech is allowed within limits, and community respect comes first. AI-written or outsider-style content won’t be trusted or embraced.
