Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman is a really cool dystopian romance novel

Sephy is a •ćřöśş•. Part of the priveliged black race and daughter of the deputy prime-minister Kamal Hadley

Callum is a •ήσμğħť•. Part of the lesser privileged race and in a poor family.

Callum and Sephy have been best friends since birth, but three years ago their families got into a fight and now can only see each other in secret.

Life was tolerable, and then a bomb blasted

I think this series adresses modern day racism and prejudice and this book is very touching and my favourite of the series. I really recommend you read it if you are into dystopia and romance novels.

-let me introduce you to the different characters in the first book-

PHERSEPHONE HADLEY ~ Sephy is the youngest daughter of Kamal Hadley and Jasmine Hadley. She is Callum McGregor's girlfriend

MINERVA HADLEY ~ Sister of Sephy and the oldest of the two. Very sensible and mature and the most favoured child.

KAMAL HADLEY ~ Deputy Prime-Minister of Zafrica and father of Sephy and Minerva. He is also husband of Jasmine Hadley

JASMINE HADLEY ~ Wife of Kamal Hadley and an alcoholic. Mother of Sephy and Minerva. She also has a lot of fake friends

JUDE MCGREGOR ~ Callum and Lynette's brother. He is the middle child and hates crosses. He calls crosses “Daggers”.

CALLUM MCGREGOR ~ Youngest of the McGregor family and Sephy's boyfriend. He is very clever intellectually but doesn't always make the best decisions

MARGARET MCGREGOR ~ wife of Ryan McGregor and mother of Lynette, Callum and Jude McGregor. She is kind and caring and believes in peace.

LYNETTE MCGREGOR ~ She is very troubled and believes that she is black. She is sister of Jude and Callum and the only daughter of Meggie and Ryan McGregor.

RYAN MCGREGOR ~ Father of Jude, Callum and Lynette. Husband of Meggie. Has a strong opinion against crosses like his son Jude.
