In a vast land called Hrothgar’s Kingdom there was a hero who saved the land three times. He was called Beowulf. He killed a monster called Grendel.
Now, 5000 years later their ancestors battle each other. Alvar is a mighty warrior. He is a three foot tall elf with magical powers. He has been sent to defeat a giant, mutant gopher named Nosferatu. Nosferatu has been terrorizing kingdoms since he was young. Harold is the king now, and he needs help trying to fight off this beast. He decides the only way is to contact Alvar because he knew he is the ancestor of the hero, Beowulf.
Harold looks for a year before he finds Alvar. He finds him living in a small shack and explains his situation. Alvar isn’t convinced that he is telling the truth. So, Harold promises him all the celebrations he wants and gold. Alvar accepts the offer and goes to the kingdom with him.
They prepare for weeks to fight Nosferatu. Alvar gets a large group of men ready to battle him. They try to corner him, but he is too fast for them. Then Alvar has a brilliant plan. They will set out meat for Nosferatu, and then once he is full he will be very sleepy. They can surprise him with a sneak attack.
So, in one week they did just that. They had an assortment of fresh, raw meat set out. They hid in their beds and pretend to sleep. They were fully armed and ready for action. When Alvar heard Nosferatu he shushed all of his men.
Nosferatu ripped off the front part of the roof with one swift movement of his claw. He gazed about the room and then settled on the ginormous pile of meat. In less than 10 minutes the meat vanished. Alvar expected him to drop soon but he did not. Instead, Nosferatu swiped at one of the beds taking one of Alvar’s men with him. Alvar saw him rip off the man’s head with his teeth. He shot the head out, and it landed with a thud on Alvar’s bed. Nosferatu then drank thirstily from the bloody hole. Alvar was disgusted and couldn’t move, but he knew if he didn’t act now Nosferatu would be on the loose.
Alvar shot out of bed and kept still and quiet until Nosferatu turned around. The small elf then, pulled out his wand and aimed it at Nosferatu. He spun him by the arm until he shot into space, leaving his big, bloody, blistery arm behind. Everyone was thrilled that he was gone. They went to the center of Harold’s Kingdom to give the good news. Then they heard a booming crash and Alvar and all of his men including Harold ran out of the kingdom’s gates. They saw a cadaverous Nosferatu trying to climb towards them, but he could not make it. They witnessed him die in front of their very own eyes. They celebrated in the kingdom, and for days all was well and they were very certain that they would have no more problems.
Thank you for your amzing, true comment! I really loved Beowulf in 12th grade English! This was actually a writing assignment after we had read Beowulf! One of my best writings!
