Have you ever wanted to learn about Spain? Well, this essay will teach you a little about Spain. This essay will teach you about Spain’s climate, what continent it’s on, the population, customs, traditions, foods, currency, life at home, life at school, and the religions. I hope you enjoy. I spent a lot of time on it.
Spain's climate varies according to region. The north and west have moderate temperatures and generous rainfall. As one moves south mild winters and hot, dry summers mark the climate. One day it might be really hot and the next day really cold. Spain is located in south Western Europe. The population is about 40 million.
Each part of Spain prepares food in its own way. Regional dishes include the cocido, or boiled beef, of Madrid and the casseroles of Catalonia. In Valencia and Murcia the specialty is paella. Paella is a combination of rice, shellfish, and chicken. Gazpacho is a form of vegetable soup served cold. It is a favorite in the south. The Basque Provinces are noted for their fish dishes. Wine accompanies most meals.
Music and dance have been a part of Spanish life for a long time. Many Spanish dances, such as the bolero, fandango, and Romani flamenco, are known well. Also, is the zarzuela. It is a musical comedy. In classical music, Spain has produced excellent composers.
Soccer is by far the favorite sport of Spain. It draws big crowds. Basketball is becoming increasingly popular. Golf, tennis, and skiing also are sort of popular. Bullfighting is not as popular as it used to be. Jai alai is a ball game of great speed. Also, many Spanish festivals are associated with religious holidays. One of the largest is the pre-Lenten Holy Week festival in Seville. Another is the San Isidro observance following Lent in Madrid, the capital. Every Spanish town and village also has a fiesta dedicated to its patron saint. Education is free and required by law for all Spanish children. It consists of six years of primary school followed by secondary school. Students may then take one or two years of vocational training. Or they may take a two-year course to prepare for entry to a university. Spain has many universities; the oldest, at Salamanca, was founded in 1218.Most Spaniards are Roman Catholics. There are small groups of Protestants, Jews, and Muslims.
