The steady, muffled whir of the air conditioning was the only sound in the quiet, dark building. Top-notch security moniters and cameras, along with motion and body heat detectors, lined every hallway and corridor. Trigger one, and the whole Cornerian Armed Fores, plus the Cornerian Millitary, would be there in less than 5 minutes. Of course, in the meantime you'd have to knockout 100 something beefy, specially-trained security guards to even ATTEMPT to escape. But since the Cornerian Embassy was so extremely high tech, you'd be identified and caught anyways.
"Stop thinking about that stuff!" Scarlet scolded herself. "Just concentrate. You're already here, so no use in going back without what you are so close to getting. All you have to do is get it and get out. Easy."
But she didn't think the last part very confidently.
"Just walk calmly and stealthily," she repeated to herself. "I won't trip if I'm focused."
Every minute her nerves were closer to snapping. And every minute brought her closer to her objective.
"Just stay calm. The worst thing to do is freak out and lose control of yourself," she nervously bit her lip, "which is what you want to do most right now..."
At last, the room she was looking for. She swiftly whipped out her lock hacker and placed it carefully on the panel. She tensely pushed the button, and winced for fear it would make a sound.
It didn't and in less than 30 seconds she was in the room. Silently walking over to the large computer that was in the corner, she slid a microchip in and impatiently waited while it hacked the computer and inconspicously copied all the top-secret data it held.
Suddenly, she heard simultainious, ear-piercing sirens sound. Her heart leaped as a voice sounded in her headset.
"SCARLET! GET OUT! WE'VE BEEN DETECTED! STARFO-"
But she didn't hear the rest. A blue blur crashed into the room, and she felt a searing pain hit her in the arm, knocking her to the ground unconsious.
